Northern Glass required a solid internal slab that could support the glass fabrication demands of this warehouse. The internal main slab was originally designed at 150mm thick with saw cuts and mesh. We optimised it by removing all saw cuts and implementing a fibre-mesh combination while maintaining the 150mm thickness. This approach minimized construction joints and increased the slab’s load capacity. Externally, the original 180mm thick slab with one layer of mesh was redesigned to a
150mm thick slab reinforced with steel fibre. The key benefits of this optimization included eliminating mesh, reducing thickness, and
significantly saving time and labour while maintaining structural performance.
