Shamrock Civil – Military Fuel Bund
Project Summary
The project involved constructing a fuel bund at a coastal military camp, designed to safely contain and support large fuel storage tanks. Given the sensitive location and demanding load requirements, the project required a reliable ground stabilisation solution that could perform effectively in sandy, coastal soil conditions.
Reason for Choosing Neoloy
The site’s sandy subgrade posed a significant challenge for load-bearing and long-term stability. The project team selected Neoloy Geocell because it offered the ability to confine the sand infill, creating a stable and reinforced base layer capable of supporting the heavy loads from the fuel tanks. Neoloy’s proven performance in soft or granular soils made it the ideal choice for this application.
Desired Outcome and Results
The goal was to implement a durable, long-term solution that would contain the sand infill, improve load distribution, and prevent differential settlement beneath the fuel tanks. The use of Neoloy successfully achieved these objectives, delivering a robust and stable foundation system that met the structural and environmental requirements of the military site.
