This technical report presents the findings of an independent study from RMIT University on the performance of stone mastic asphalt (SMAH10) reinforced with ACE XP™ aramid fibre. The research evaluates plant produced SMA mixes under real world conditions, comparing conventional asphalt with single and double dose fibre reinforced variants. Thorough & rigorous laboratory testing is essential when evaluating performance. Testing included cracking tolerance (IDEAL-CT), fatigue resistance (4PBB), and rutting performance (Hamburg Wheel Tracker). The study demonstrates how ACE XP™ fibre significantly enhances durability, crack resistance, and fatigue life, offering a pathway to longer-lasting, cost-effective pavements.
